About Us
When I grew up, the superheroes I idolized went by the names Thunderbolt, Charger, Impala, Cutlass and GTO. I worked hard, saved my pennies and eventually bought a bright orange Chevy Vega - the perfect car for an aspiring stunt driver and downhill racer.
When it came time to choosing a realistic career, I gravitated towards auto body work because: A.) skiing full-time is fun, but it doesn’t pay the rent; B.) I love the look on a customer’s face when their car rolls out of our shop looking showroom new again.
In 1992, we opened Auto Buff in West Seattle on 42nd Avenue SW. All we had at the time was a garden hose, a vacuum and a stencil. They say it takes 10,000 hours to perfect any craft and in the years that followed, we detailed that many cars or more.
Auto Buff Today
Today, Auto Buff is a state-of-the-art detailing center and collision repair facility on 36th St. SW just north of Alaska. Just like our customers, we live, work, play and shop in West Seattle. We hold ourselves (and the auto body industry) to a higher standard. There is no such thing as “it’s good enough.”
